Update: April 15, 2026

LB 936 was amended to LB 912 with a number of health-related bills earlier this month. On April 10, LB 912 including its amendments passed and is awaiting the Governor's approval.

The NSRT is still committed to ensuring the Nurse Practitioner's receive adequate education prior to performing any fluoroscopy exams and has been assured by the authors of LB936 that we will be involved in the regulatory discussion that will take place within the NEDHHS and Board of Nursing. We will keep our members updated as more information becomes available.

NSRT Legislative Advocacy Update
On January 28, 2026, the Nebraska Society of Radiologic Technologists (NSRT) provided testimony before the Nebraska Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee regarding LB 936. Speaking on behalf of NSRT, representatives emphasized that while access to care is important, patient safety must remain central when fluoroscopy is used. Testimony highlighted concerns related to undefined education standards, lack of required collaboration with licensed medical radiographers, and regulatory inconsistencies within the bill. NSRT urged lawmakers to amend LB 936 to include clear education and training requirements and to require collaboration with licensed radiographers to ensure radiation safety and consistency across practice settings. NSRT will continue advocating for patient safety, education, and collaborative care and will keep members informed as the bill progresses.

Help locally

The NSRT serves as the advocacy voice for Nebraska’s medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.

Through a strong network of volunteer leaders and professional lobbyists, the NSRT works in collaboration with the ASRT and other healthcare organizations to protect, advance, and represent the practice rights of medical radiographers across the state.

To continue this work, we need your help. NSRT is seeking members willing to serve on the Legislative Committee and to help lead grassroots advocacy efforts that support and strengthen our profession in Nebraska.

Helping on a National Level

Your role in advocacy extends beyond the state level and plays an important part in shaping the future of the profession nationwide. While serving on the NSRT Board of Directors is one way to become a delegate and get involved in ASRT activities, members can also engage directly in national advocacy efforts through the ASRT.

Through collective grassroots action, individual voices come together to influence legislation that impacts the radiologic technology profession and the patients we serve. The ASRT provides clear, accessible tools to stay informed on federal issues and to communicate directly with lawmakers and regulatory agencies.
