A Day in the Life
No two days are exactly the same, but each one promises a blend of patient care, technical skills, and teamwork.

What is a typical day like as a radiologic technologist?
Your day might start by reviewing the imaging schedule and preparing your equipment for the first patients. From there, you’ll move between exam rooms, the emergency department, and sometimes the operating room. A technologist must adapt to a variety of situations.
Throughout the day, you will:
Capture diagnostic images with precision
- Position patients and equipment to produce clear, accurate X-ray images
- Adjust technical factors (how much radiation is delivered) based on each unique patient
- Review images to ensure quality before submitting them for interpretation by a radiologist (MD)

Work as part of the healthcare team
- Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and physicians
- Communicate important details to ensure each patient receives the right exam at the right time
Provide patient-centered care
- Greet and guide patients through their exams
- Ensure comfort, safety, and dignity during procedures
- Advocate for patients - right patient - right exam
- Ease anxiety by explaining what to expect
By the end of the day, you’ve helped provide answers that directly impact patient diagnosis and care. Radiologic Technologists make a meaningful difference with every image we take.
